Many great writers have great pseudonyms or pen names. They choose these names so that they can have an opportunity to freely share their thoughts and opinions. We are going to use pseudonyms as well. Ours, however, will be names of famous Chicagoans. This will allow us to share freely and openly. Keep in mind, however, I will know your penname. Your blog posts should be honest, appropriate and academic in nature!

If I were choosing a penname, I would pick Jane Addams. She is America's first social worker and built a place, Hull House, for people to get services and food who had just come to the country and were struggling to get their feet on the ground.
ReplyDeleteWhen I was third grade, I learned about Hull House and Jane Addams. I loved the idea of helping people. It was the first time I'd heard about social work and at that time, I decided that I wanted to be a social worker. I later realized that teaching was for me...but, when I was in third grade Jane was the lady.
My person is Derrick Rose. He is a basketball player from Chicago. He plays for the Bulls. He is my favorite player, so I chose him. Actually...Ms.Hughes chose him because I am absent today.

ReplyDeleteI think that the reason that they wrote the book is to show how really dangerous it can be it the "ghetto". People that don't live in those neighborhoods assume that everything is just bad, it's way worse then they think it is.
