Assignment #21: Thinking Back

Three weeks goes by very very quickly! This is my first time teaching the course and there are definitly things I will do differently next time around. Take a second to think about the class as a whole. In DETAIL (3 or more sentences for each), explain what you liked about the class--what worked, what you would change about the class--what didnt work, and finally the most important take-away or thing you learned--what was most valuable to you?

  1. The thing I thought or liked about the class was the projects that were did on the world's fair. Also I liked blogging because I could express my feelings and beliefs and commenting on others as well as others commenting on mine. I don't have any thing that didn't work, but I wouldn't take away anything at all. I think the blogging was the thing that was valuable to me.

  2. The class Itself was alright. I think we did A little bit of everything throughout the three weeks. Watching documentaries, reading, going out to experience things from history hands on. We basically did A lot In three weeks which Is hard to do.As far As what worked by the clarification your giving, I'd say It all did we worked together well most of the time In group and partnered activities, and even though we were reluctant we still did those....silly exercises to straighten up.I would say the most valued thing that I'm going to take away from this Is the blogging definately the blogging.

  4. what i like about the class is that we got to work together with people around us and we got to work with each other. some fun times we had working together. I would want to change almost noting because it was really fun like we went on a boat that fun and we went to the chicago history museum. So the small things i would chage is our break we dont get to much time i would change that. an other thing is we got to read by our self's that was ok but i would want to change that.the most valuable thing to me was the acece we did i really like that paper because i did me best work on i try really hard be good i thing that was one of my best work in summer school.

  5. I liked everything about the class. I thought that it was going to be really hard, but it wasn't. I really liked reading the book Our America. I think it's one of my favorite books now.
I don't really think I would change anything about the class, because we did a little bit of everything. We did group work, independent work, went on field trips, and watch some clips of the history of Chicago. Everything worked out better than I thought. I thought it was going to be a really hard class, but it wasn't.

  6. I thought summer school was actually going to be boring and it was just going to drag like most of the times that I've been in summer bridge. Honestly, it wasn't, I liked all the blogging we did in class because I got to see that I am a good writer. As of right now I can't think on anything to change. Three weeks went by so quickly that everything seemed sort of fun. I liked how we learned about our city and how it became Chicago. So I don't really think anything should change because everybody did the work and worked with each other when needed. Chicago has so much history that I as a citizen did not know about till now. Learning about Chicago and its history made me curious about much more. The boat tour answered so many of my questions about the building I was curious about. Learning about Chicago would most definitely be the one thing I take with me in memory.

  8. I like this class because we got to go to field trips and I learn a lot more about Chicago. It has a great history, I know now why people know so much about Chicago. And I don't think I would change anything because I think people learn just how class is and that you took us to a live trip and learn even more.I think it help people learn more. The most valuable thing to me is that we got to go to a field trip I know that no other teacher would of taken a class for summer school. And that something else that is valuable is the book we read Our America it is something that i didn't know that happen in Chicago.

  10. This class was pretty interesting to me. We did a lot throughout the past 3 weeks. My favorite thing about class was learning about Chicago, there were so many things I didn't know about Chicago until this class came in.I also liked the blog because I was able to answer a lot of questions that would have not answered in person, it was a way to express my feelings and thoughts. I wouldn't take anything away because all of this was pretty fun. I wouldn't change anything in class either. what was most valuable to me was the architectural boat trip,I felt like I learned a lot more with that trip.

  12. I think that the thing that I liked most about the class is the amount of history that was taught. Just the excitement and foundation about Chicago has made me really interested on finding out more. I would say that the skills that I learned here I can guarentee I am going to use this on-coming school year.
As for the things that should be changed, there are just a few things. Like the amount of reading as an entire class. That did get the entire room involved, but we didn't do it to often. I hope that the people who will be taking this course in the future can read more outloud.
To me, I would say that the most valuable thing I learned is the truth behind the meat packing industries. The only reason that it's important to me is that it show how people working so hard recieved very little. This is my opinion about the entire class.

  15. There have been a lot of fun things that we did over the past three weeks that have I have learned.
I like that we went on more field trips
then in the school year. We had a lot of fun activists that I think that where a lot of fun to learn with. The class had show the side of Chicago that we don't see every day.

The thing that worked is that invention one that we did. I didn't like the long day but for me it went by fast. I didn't like the fact that we had to start at 8:00.
